Buy1Give1 Support Project
Every 8 seconds, every day, a child somewhere in the world dies from drinking contaminated water. And right now there are more than one billion people on our planet without access to clean water.
But together with you, we can change that in a unique way.
It works like this: every time you make a purchase with us on this website you will be automatically giving people in the developing world access to clean drinking water. When you rent a bike from Wild West Adventures, you give access to clean water for 20 people for a day. And when you take an adventure package you provide water for one person for life. And that’s just the start.
This doesn’t cost you anything and you don’t have to do anything, it happens automatically. We pay a small percentage of your purchase price to the projects mentioned above. And it is your support that allows us to do this.
We were introduced to the idea by Singapore-headquartered Buy1GIVE1 (or B1G1 as its more widely known). B1G1 is creating a world where every day transactions give back in very specific ways. For example, just imagine that every time you dine out… a child is fed. Effortlessly! Every time you buy a book… a tree is planted. Every time you go to the doctor a child in needs receives care, every time someone buys a TV a blind person receives the gift of sight. Just imagine a world where everything we do makes a difference.
Paul has set about integrating the idea into Wild West Adventures and all the activities that we operate on this website. Initially some of Wild West’s staff thought Paul was having a midlife crisis but now everyone has caught onto the idea with enthusiasm.
And that enthusiasm shows. I’ll explain it this way: “Now Wild West’s’ Farm Tours give back goats to provide families in Kenya a sustainable income, our school group tours provide food growth education for one child in Borneo. One guided walks package provides 20 Youthtown underprivileged teenagers in New Zealand a learning activity for one day.”
The B1G1 programme also enables guests to choose an area of need that they are familiar with and would like support to be provided for.
And although Wild West Adventures is one of the first New Zealand travel companies to adopt the programme in New Zealand, we have a much larger vision. We believe that everyone in the industry should get on board with B1G1. “I just can’t think of a reason why businesses shouldn’t do it.
