Wild South Adventure Tour
5 Day English Language Thermal Resort Week
Itinerary 5
English Language Study Tours are a fun and effective way to learn or
improve your spoken English. Tours are arranged so that students do a
morning of English Language Classes followed by an afternoon of tours
or activities. These activities are arranged so that students reinforce
the English learnt in the morning by having to speak that English on the
activities for the afternoon.
Based around the Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort area you can do the following
highlights:
-
Snowball challenge at the Antarctic Centre
-
Overnight on a High Country Sheep Station
-
White water rafting trip
-
Alpine valley hike
-
Horse trek
-
Jetboat thriller ride
-
Abseiling
-
Catching a sheep (farm activities depend on time of year.)
-
Hotpools, Funpark, Hydroslide
-
Swimming
Note that all activities are optional and we do not make you do any activities
that you are not comfortable with. All activities are included in the
trip price but no refunds are given if you decide not to do something.
We do encourage you to have a go at everything and will help you achieve
them.

Day 1
| 8:30 AM |
English Language school. This morning your tutor
will get an idea as to what level of English the students are currently
speaking and we develop routines for learning English on your tour.
Spoken vocabulary is identified and developed to include everyday
language that is used for travel survival in a foreign
country.
|
| 11:30 AM |
Take a short tour around Christchurch with a lunch
break before heading inland. |
| 12:30 PM |
Travel by coach to a High Country Sheep Station
where we will stay overnight.
OK farmers! This afternoon we are off with the sheep station staff
and their dogs to round up the sheep and do some shearing, cruthching
and tailing. Can you get that mob of 800 sheep down the hill, through
that gate and into the yards? We will work as a team to make sure
that none get away on you! They all have to be cruthched and drenched.
But hey! Its not all work on the farm! There will be a chance for
a swim (no you will not have to get in with the sheep!) and have
a go at sliding a scree mountain.
Accommodation: Esk Head Sheep & Cattle Station Shearers Quarters.

Your Wild West Adventure Company Guides are experienced Outdoor Instructors
and they may alter the programme or its order in consultation with you
to suit the greatest number of tour group members or to accommodate weather
conditions at the time. For example a nearby easier rafting river maybe
used if the group is assessed for their safety and enjoyment as more suiting
a different river. All activities will be participated in but the intensity
level may vary from group to group due to the above factors.
