Would you like to finish up with a relaxing hot shower and spa with a drink and a snack afterwards? Yes!... Then this trip is for you. Our glow-worm cave rafting ( we are actually on tubes and not rafts!) adventure is flexible and can provide as much or as little challenge as you are comfortable with. Every trip is different depending on who is on them so they can suit all abilities and ages down to as young as 6 years. As your adventure is also based on the South Island's West Coast there are no crowds and no time limits. Team Building, Educational Objectives or Leadership Skills can be included for groups.

The trip starts with putting on our cave gear at our base in Greymouth. You'll get thermal clothes to keep you warm and comfortable, a wetsuit, socks and river shoes, helmet and life jacket. We then drive you for 30 minutes to an easy practice river where we teach you the art of river tubing and make sure everyone is happy being on a tube in the river.

You'll then take a 15 minute walk with your tube through the rainforest to the start of the river tubing. This is a beautiful and fun section of river with some gentle rapids. You'll be joined together with other tubers to provide a stable "snake" of tubes but you can DSC01600 01 (15).jpgincrease the challenge level by tubing the rapids on your own(dependent on river levels).

Your river tubing takes us to the cave entrance where we will get some protection against the Maori Legendary Taniwhas, these are underground Dragons that keep you if you venture into their world!!!

This starts your float up into the cave done in the dark to the light of a galaxy of glow-worms in the roof. At the end of the float section we will spend some time with the glow-worms while having a hot drink and chocolate bar to keep us going before floating back out finishing with a tube jump. (optional)
What is the abseil option for the cave?
The abseil option, you might know it as rappelling, is entering the cave by going down an entrance which is a shaft instead of walking in via the main cave entrance. We give you a safety and instruction session before you go down the rope. You would be abseiling about 30 feet down into the dark with most of it as a ‘hanging free’ descent. This means you descend on the rope away from any rock walls. You control your own rate of descent down the rope. You are also attached by a second backup safety rope that your guide can control if he needs to. This means that if your guide feels you are likely to get out of control then he can control your descent for you.
How extreme??? This depends on your previous experience, if you have abseiled before then don't do this part of the trip, it is good fun for those who haven't tried it before.
Hope this is of some help,
What is the Zipline option for the cave?
This is our latest thrillseeker. Harness yourself and glide down a 310 metre wire rope through stunning rainforest surroundings! Enthralling!zip 1

Your adventure with us is one of intrigue, anticipation and even a touch of romance. People are able to choose to do what they want, some do everything while others just do what they are comfortable with as everything is optional.
The place to meet for your trip is at our base in the centre of Greymouth. This is on the main highway near the town centre next door to McDonald's in a lime green building! The address is 8 Whall Street, Greymouth. You do need to book ahead. The optional cliff jump does not cost any extra but if you want to do an abseil or a zipline then this costs more and must be specified when booking. See the abseil & zipline booking option.

PLUS...To make sure you really are getting good value, we will give you a voucher for discounts & free stuff at places around the West Coast. You can pick up an absolutely FREE Big Mac, FREE Email, FREE Goldpanning at Shantytown, $25 off 4x4 Bike trips, a FREE Beer/wine, a FREE Dessert at a local restaurant with your meal, discount hostel beds & heaps of other stuff. Worth up to $461
